Diagnosis: Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)
Origin: Dominican Republic
Cost of Treatment: $45,000
Adrian Victorino is a two months baby in need of an emergency heart surgery to repair ventricular septal defect (VSD). A condition in which the pressure generated during contraction by the left ventricle is higher than that generated by the simultaneous contraction of the right ventricle. As consequence, the right ventricle must work extra to handle the additional blood volume. This overflow is causing little Adrian difficulties breathing and shortness of breath. In addition, if the condition is not treated promptly the overflow of blood under high pressure may cause permanent lungs damage.
Thanks to generous donations Adrian received the life-saving heart surgery he so desperately needed. Adrian has now returned home to the Dominican Republic a happy healthy baby.
