Cost of Treatment: $50,000
Alexha was born a healthy little baby; sadly, on March of 2010 she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She was only 5 at the time, and her parents were devastated to know about their little girl’s illness. She underwent treatment in Honduras, but it has not been an easy road for little Alexha. Unfortunately, she suffered a relapse in September 2011, subsequently undergoing treatment once again and was in remission for a few months. On October 3, 2012, she had a second relapse. At this time her doctors’ recommendations were for her parents to bring Alexha to the U.S. in order to receive the proper medical treatment that could hopefully save her life.
Alexha received a bone marrow transplant in 2013. She has since returned home after an extended period of medical treatment, she is doing great. IKF supported the family during the duration of her treatment.
